Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Every answer links to a fuller guide article when there is more to say.
How is SagaBound different from ChatGPT or other AI chatbots?
ChatGPT is a general-purpose chatbot. SagaBound is a purpose-built RPG engine. It tracks your HP, inventory, quest progress, NPC relationships, and character stats across every turn, and the AI follows structured game rules: damage, initiative, item effects, and quest logic. Damage you take stays taken, and a contract you finish actually pays out.
Is SagaBound really free?
Yes. Sign up in seconds with no credit card required. The free plan includes 50 story turns per day, access to every official world, and a 12k context window. Paid plans add unlimited turns, bigger context, stronger models, and monthly image credits.
Will the AI remember my story between sessions?
Yes. SagaBound saves your complete game state after every turn: story history, inventory, stats, quest progress, NPC relationships, and codex entries. When you return, your campaign continues with that saved context, and a searchable long-term memory can recall a specific moment from hundreds of turns ago when it matters again.
Can I create my own worlds?
Yes. The World Forge is live for every account. Chat with the Forge Agent to build a world with its own lore, factions, characters, and rules, or author each piece by hand. You approve every change before it becomes canon, and you can publish the result for the community to play.
Is my content moderated or censored?
Yes, at the level you choose. Maturity ratings run from Safe (PG-13) to Unfiltered, and an automated safety layer holds every game to our Terms, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy. Prompts and relevant story context are processed by AI providers to deliver the service.
What do I need to play?
Just a modern browser. SagaBound runs on desktop, phone, and tablet with no download or install, and your progress saves to your account, so you can start a story on one device and continue it on another.
What counts as a story turn?
A turn is one action you take and the narrator's response to it. Free accounts include 50 turns per day and the counter resets daily; every paid plan removes the limit. If a turn comes back degraded, retrying it does not bill a second turn.
What are image credits and how do I get more?
Image credits pay for AI scene art and voice narration. New accounts start with 10 credits, paid plans grant a monthly allowance, and one-time credit packs in the Shop top you up without a subscription. A scene image costs 1 to 5 credits depending on the image model picked in Settings (refunded if generation fails) and narration costs 1 credit per 750 characters read aloud.
Can I choose which AI model runs my game?
Yes. Each plan includes a set of models and you pick the one that runs your game. Free and Traveler play on the entry model, Chronicler adds a stronger option, and Architect and Paragon add the premium lineup, including Grok 4.3 and Gemini 3 Flash.
How does the free trial work?
Chronicler, Architect, and Paragon monthly plans offer a 7-day free trial. A card is required, and the trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first. Each account can use one trial total, and annual plans are always paid up front.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
Open your profile and tap Manage next to your plan. If you subscribed on the web, that opens the Stripe billing portal; if you subscribed through Google Play, it opens your Play subscription settings. Canceling keeps your plan active until the end of the period you already paid for.
How old do I need to be to play?
Creating an account requires meeting the minimum age in our Terms of Service. The Mature and Unfiltered maturity ratings are locked to adults: they unlock only for accounts whose date of birth shows 18 or older, and accounts without a date of birth stay on the Safe setting.
