About This World

You've just died and woken up something else — now you have to learn to survive in a hidden vampire society where the wrong mistake gets you erased, not by hunters, but by your own kind. The world looks exactly like the one you live in — same cities, same headlines, same crowded subway platforms — except that for as long as anyone can remember, something ancient has been living quietly inside it. Not hidden in ruins or forgotten corners, but folded into the fabric of ordinary life: the private club with no listed address, the family that's owned the same city block for two hundred years, the beautiful stranger at the gallery opening who never quite ages. Mortals walk past it constantly and never see it — not because it's invisible, but because an entire hidden society has spent centuries making sure they don't.

That society runs on one law above all others: never be discovered. It's less a rule than a religion, and it shapes everything — how vampires feed, how they settle disputes, how they treat newcomers, how ruthlessly they police their own. Within that secrecy, though, is a rich and seductive world of its own: candlelit courts, blood debts, old rivalries, glittering nightlife that mortals mistake for ordinary decadence, and a strict, unspoken hierarchy where age and power command real respect. Becoming one of them means dying once, completely, and then discovering that eternity is its own kind of gift and its own kind of curse — beauty and power bought with everything you used to be.

Where you land in that world is yours to decide. Some claw their way up from nothing, freshly turned and still learning what they've become. Some are already old and formidable, carrying centuries of history and enemies to match. And some never chase power at all — content to spend a few hundred years as the bartender who's poured drinks for three generations of the same ruling family, quietly indispensable, knowing more secrets than anyone gives him credit for. The hierarchy is real and it matters, but there's more than one way to have a life inside it.
