The AI Models Behind SagaBound

SagaBound runs on a roster of AI models, each picked for one job. You choose the storyteller that writes your prose; behind it, smaller and faster models handle rules bookkeeping, memory upkeep, and safety checks, and separate models generate scene art and narration. No single model is good at all of those jobs at once, so we do not ask one to be.

The storyteller you choose

Each plan includes a lineup of storyteller models and you pick the one that runs your game, from the entry model on Free and Traveler up to the premium lineup on Architect and Paragon, including Grok 4.3, Gemini 3 Flash, and the roleplay-tuned Aion 3.0 Mini. They differ in voice as much as in strength: some lean cinematic, some lean terse, and switching mid-saga is allowed. The current lineup always lives in plans and pricing.

The helpers you never see

Most of every turn's work is not prose. Extracting damage and loot from the narration, updating codex entries, resolving whether two names are the same person, checking content safety: these jobs run on fast models tuned for precision, because you feel their speed as the gap between pressing send and reading the next scene. Using a large storyteller model for bookkeeping would make turns slower and the game more expensive without making the story any better.

Scene art and the narrator

Scene images run on an image-model roster you pick from in Settings: FLUX.2 Klein at 1 credit, FLUX.2 Pro and Nano Banana 2 Lite at 3, and Nano Banana 2 at 5 for the finest detail. The voice narrator generates speech at the speaking speed you choose rather than speeding it up afterward. Costs and plan details are in scene images and narration.

How the roster changes

Models rotate as the field moves: we test candidates against real play, ship the ones that earn a slot, and retire the ones whose quality or running cost stops making sense, the way Aion 3.0 was retired a day after launch when its economics proved out of line. Every roster change is recorded in the changelog, and if a model you selected is retired, you are moved to the closest current option automatically.

Where your words go

Running the game means your prompts and the relevant story context are processed by AI providers on our behalf, under the terms in the Privacy Policy. Your saga is not used to train our models, and the maturity rating governs the fiction, not the rules of the service.
